Opinion columns and commentary by “JB” Bryson on Panama politics, Bocas del Toro, public life and expat concerns. Opinion, not straight news reporting.
OP ED: J.BRYSON. “I WAS A FAN OF “NITO” over ROUX. I used my site to promote his initiatives, I used my site to propel his message. He was taking over for one of the WORST and MOST transparent of conspiratory dealings with rougue governments in Panamanian history in Varela. There was knowehere…
It is hard for anyone Ex-Pat or National to deny that there is SIGNIFICANT tectoinic shifts in the running of PANAMA that goes back to the failed Varela years. The Wall Street Journal recently ran an article touching on this subject. https://www.wsj.com/articles/is-panama-next-for-a-hard-left-turn-war-gapast few mes-venazuela-russia-china-iran-drones-special-operation-military-exercise-11658680168 Since the full turnover of the Canal from the US to…
It’s times like these when you are able to see the WEAK come to light. As in CORTIZO and CARRIZO. And even more reason why the RE-ELECTION of RICARDO MARTINELLI will be one of the biggest “LEGAL” runaway victorioes since REAGAN/MONDALE. MARTINELLI is a master politician in what a politician should be. A servant of…
Anyone who knows me, knows I could go on for HOURS about my feelings over MiAMBIENTE in the past. Be it logging in Darien, or pollution in the Bay. I STRONGLY feel that the ENVIRONMENT and WILDLIFE are THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS for PANAMA to PROTECT. Read the archives and I am ALL OVER everything…

In like “Hey, we can’t go out and make REAL money, so why not create a currency of…
I have expressed my thanks to those that have stayed in contact long after Covid and my time in the hospital. Not a army of people, but I am thankful that PNO and the ExPat Exchange has allowed me to meet some great people. I have been a huge proponent of people NOT GETTING FLEECED…
To all friends and contacts met through the Ex-Pat Exchange and via direct contact, consult the consulate and embassies before planning a long term return from the states. My battle with COVID was absolutely brutal and compounded by my other health issues. I miss the warm temperature for certain, but take all steps to assure…
A long expected hello back to the visitors of PNO. Needless to say, it has been AWHILE. For those ex-pats and daily readers that stayed in touch either through e-mail or to Steven, I would like to say “thank you”. You are all very kind. To be clear, I had a medical setback that required…
