Op Ed: “JB”
I am finally able to place a pin in my RFB issues, in that additonal information was provided to the FBI field office and “NO” additonal plaintiffs were added. So it is done, and nobody else will be able to be party to any benefits of an indictment. Which is appropriate when all is said and done. Some people are simply resigned to be victims.
Some old school PNO’ers will recall “Big Anthony” from many years back. He was a gentleman that was a bit of a “fixer”, and well aware of a massively successful and popular swindle occurring with “Ex-Pats” and “Foreign Investors” seeking a piece of well priced PARADISE.
I was involved with one particular woman from Texas, who placed down ($180,000 USD) to purchase property in Bocas del Toro. If you choose to visit my archive, you will see I actually made a trip down there to view things myself. The scam was as simple as it was effective-
A) Advertise the DREAM- pictures of the beach, sunsets, jungles, fishing, etc- and solicit the sale of land that by “western” comparison- is incredibly priced. Build the vision of the perfect retirement setting or vacation home,,,,,,and sell the shit out of it.
B) After the Buyer /” Future Victim” provides the deposit, and signs multiple documents that all are under the tenets of Panamanian Law and it’s MASSIVE archaic holes, the absentee buyer will eventually receive some news.
C) The DREAM beachfront property they believe they own, is actually OCCUPIED. As “native Panamanians” are suddenly residing on their land. Unlike Panama City, or even other mainland property- this is actually a “plausible” situation as Bocas del Toro is located in the middle of fucking nowhere. So much so, that calling it a “Banana Republic” is not only NOT RACIST, but irefutably accurate.
D) So, these Buyers/”Current Victims” are now embroiled in a horrible political quagmire due to a complete lack of Due Diligence at the ONSET of the transaction, and they are now ON THEIR HEELS. They are now unwitting fools in the midst of LAWYER ping pong, where BOTH the lawyers of the PLAINTIFFS and DEFENDANTS simultaneously profit from a case that will TAKE YEARS to adjudicate in Panama. ALMOST ALL, ended up walking away from the deposit.
PNO- and myself, have done our level best to warn people of these traps. We have accrued a PhD in PANAMA. And we know the REAL DEVELOPERS that we can endorse and recommend people to. Emphasizing the need for clinical title research. And verifying the claims of ownership from developers. Verifying claims of liquidity. Verifying claims of Environmental Certifications. Verifying legal Utilities. To encapsulate, essentially do EVERYTHING condo buyers in “The Cliffs” and “Blue Pearl” DID NOT do.
At the end of the day, every adult needs to live with the choices we make. Be it in matters that are personal or matters that are financial in nature. NOBODY leaves life on Earth without some regrets made. These people will carry their involvement with these people to the graves with them. And the amazing thing,,,,,,doing so while painfully submissive.
“JH” the massive grifter, has insulated himself with that horrible “attorney/ESCROW agent” who had fiduciary responsibility over the receipt and release of US and European investor funds, and SHE is a native PANAMANIAN. His second is a DUTCH citizen. And when he finds himself in a hole, he actually does what the IMF and the FED do back in the States. He has a BAILOUT. In his case, he produces his very own currency.
Enjoy those “FROG COINS” people. And enjoy continuing to throw money at PANAMANIAN legal that will NEVER BEAR ANY FRUIT. The main (4) people in this mess are US CITIZENS, and I am pretty sure they will want their SSN Benefits in the future. By seeking a FELONY ruling NOT in PANAMA, but in the UNITED STATES was the only path to safe harbor. And even that will be a big ask given the papers many of these people agreed to with “JH”.
I received an e-mail Friday that told me the book is closed and not a single condo purchaser will be party to any Federal Claim in US. So I am able to exhale and just say “No more need to discuss”. Which believe me is a relief.
Best of luck “BUYERS”…..I hope all end up dealing with this “REGRET” in a manner that allows them to move on and just enjoy life.
