The epidemiological analysis of the situation of covid-19 in Panama by the Ministry of Health (Minsa), indicates that 96.2% of the deceased, as of February 28, 2021 to date, were not vaccinated or had the scheme Vaccination against the incomplete virus.

The report, prepared by the Department of Epidemiology of the Minsa, indicates that of 2,182 deaths that occurred from February 28, 2021, when the second dose was already applied in the country, to February 25 of this year, a total of 2,098 did not they were vaccinated.

According to the report, in that same period, 84 deaths have been reported in people who did have the complete vaccination schedule (three doses), which represents 3.8%.

In the case of those hospitalized, 79% of those confined in the ward are without vaccination and 17% do have a complete vaccination schedule. 4% does not apply because they are children under 5 years of age.

The document details that 87% of ICU patients are also not vaccinated against 10% who do comply with the complete scheme. 3% does not apply.

The report indicates that the number of new cases, hospitalizations, deaths and the positivity rate as the effective reproduction number (Rt) continue to decline from week 4 to week 8.

The number of hospitalizations for covid-19 has decreased from 829 in week 4 to 269 in the week and in the ICU, from 83 to 49; Likewise, deaths fell from 140 to 40 in the same period.

The Rt is located for week 8 at 0.60 while 4 weeks ago it was 1.15.

The positivity rate was 33.4% in week 4 while for week 8 it stands at 9.5%.
