Panama City Launches ‘Tú Puedes’ Platform to Support Follow-Up for People Experiencing Homelessness

PANAMA CITY, October 27, 2026 — The Municipality of Panama has introduced the digital platform “Tú Puedes,” a tool designed to help the Comprehensive Care Center for People Experiencing Homelessness (CAIPHAC) and partner institutions follow rehabilitation processes.

The platform was presented at City Hall on October 26. The municipality said development cost B/.0.00 and involved its Technology and Innovation team alongside CAIPHAC, MIDES, CONAPRED and MINSA.

Continuity can matter as much as first contact

Support for people experiencing homelessness often involves health care, social services, rehabilitation and follow-up over time. A platform may help staff organize information and coordinate services, but its value will depend on responsible implementation, privacy safeguards and whether people can actually access the help they need.

The municipality said the tool will allow staff to follow individual progress, consult medical advances, organize care and identify needs. Those are intended functions, not yet measured outcomes.

Privacy and dignity should stay central

Digital tools dealing with highly sensitive personal information need clear safeguards. Public reporting should focus on services and accountability rather than exposing the identities or histories of people receiving support.

Panama Now Online will follow official updates on the platform’s rollout and any public information about its safeguards, reach and results.
