Burunga Metro Station Work to Bring Weekend Pan-American Highway Detours
ARRAIJAN, August 1, 2026 – Metro de Panama Line 3 crews will begin installing the first section of the pedestrian walkway for the future Burunga station this weekend, creating temporary traffic changes on the Pan-American Highway in Arraijan.
TVN Noticias reported that the work is scheduled from 9:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, until 6:00 p.m. Sunday. The operation will affect lanes heading toward Panama City.
To keep traffic moving, vehicles will be diverted into lanes normally used for travel toward La Chorrera, with one lane opened in each direction during the work period.
Isaac Trejos, traffic and roadway manager for Line 3, said the walkway will allow passengers to move safely from station access structures to the platform level and will support people with disabilities or reduced mobility.
The Burunga station is 74 percent complete, while the elevated section of Line 3 has reached 86 percent execution, according to the TVN report. Similar walkways have already been installed in San Bernardino and Nuevo Arraijan, with four more still pending after Burunga.
Authorities said nearby residents will retain access through a coordinated operation involving Line 3 staff, the National Police and the ATTT.
