Panama City Extends Plate-Pickup Hours for January Through October 2026 Vehicle Documents
PANAMA CITY, October 30, 2026 — The Municipality of Panama has announced extended hours for collecting vehicle plates and decals corresponding to January through October 2026, giving drivers more time to complete the process in the capital district.
Where and when collection is available
The reported collection point is the Centro de Entrega de Placas in Parque Francisco Arias Paredes, near the Hatillo building in Calidonia. The extended schedule is Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Saturday service from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Drivers should not assume that showing up alone is enough to complete the process. The municipality’s reported requirements include payment of the circulation tax, a municipal good-standing certificate, a valid vehicle inspection and the owner’s personal identification. People collecting on behalf of someone else should confirm the separate requirements before traveling.
Plan before going
Calidonia can be busy, particularly around Avenida Perú and Avenida Cuba. The announcement specifically gives drivers a longer window, so choosing a less congested time may be more useful than arriving during the busiest part of the day. Public-transport users may also consider the Metro’s Line 1 and the Lotería station when planning a visit.
Keep original documents organized and confirm that the vehicle record is current before leaving home. A missing certificate or expired inspection can mean a return trip, even if the plate is available for collection.
Why the extended hours matter
Plate and decal delays can create avoidable stress for vehicle owners, especially when work and holiday schedules tighten. A longer weekday schedule and Saturday availability are intended to make collection more practical, but they do not remove the underlying document requirements.
For the most current instructions, drivers should use the municipality’s official channels, since administrative requirements can change. This update applies to the reported January–October 2026 documents and should not be read as a blanket notice for every future plate cycle.
