SINAPROC Maintains Rain and Thunderstorm Prevention Notice Across Panama
PANAMA CITY, August 4, 2026 – SINAPROC maintained a prevention notice for rain and thunderstorms as weather conditions affected western Panama, Azuero, Colon and Darien.
Telemetro reported that the notice remained active until 8:00 p.m. and that emergency teams were monitoring incidents in several areas.
In Bocas del Toro, crews worked to remove fallen trees that blocked lanes toward Chiriqui Grande and along the main road near Rambala. Authorities also reported a boat sank at Taxi 25 port because of bad weather, with no people aboard at the time.
Emergency personnel also responded to fallen trees along the main route between Chiriqui Grande and Chiriqui, including sectors such as Alto Valle, Valle Abajo and El Guabo.
In the Ngabe-Bugle comarca, authorities reported partial roof damage at the Mutaria Educational Center in Kankintu district, Coronte corregimiento.
SINAPROC urged people to avoid affected zones, drive carefully in heavy rain and follow official emergency instructions.
