The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) resumed on Monday morning the inquiry followed by the former ambassador of Panama in South Korea, Jaime Lasso, in relation to the Odebrecht case.

Lasso, alleged to have received bribes from the Brazilian construction company, showed up at the Avesa building, reiterating that he never accepted any money from the company.

The MP investigates whether Lasso received ten million dollars that supposedly ended up in the coffers of the Panamanian Party and in the electoral campaign of the former president, Juan Carlos Varela (2014-2019).

“I will come as many times as I have to come to clarify to the Public Ministry what needs to be clarified,” said Lasso, appointed as ambassador from 2009 to 2011.
