The Calidonia Peace Court dismissed the charges against businessman Carlos Sultán, after the altercation he starred with the former President of the Republic Juan Carlos Varela, yesterday Monday at the Makoto restaurant.
Judge Sonia Fuentes, issued a resolution filing the complaint after Varela did not appear at the court in Calidonia after the altercation. This was stated by the lawyer Guillermo Willy Cochez, who announced the event through his Twitter account.
The incident happened yesterday at about 2:30 pm in the Japanese food restaurant located on Samuel Lewis Avenue. Varela was eating with her children, one of them had arrived from the United States. According to sources who witnessed the event, Sultan touches the former governor’s back, and began to insult him. Varela stands up, and an exchange of words is generated between the two. Slapping, insults, and screaming. “Corrupt,” Sultan called him.
“Take it out …”, Varela is heard shouting in a video about the incident circulating on social networks.
A restaurant manager called the National Police, and several members of that entity lead Sultan first to the Bella Vista police headquarters, and then to the Calidonia Peace Court. According to Cochez, the judicial process is over at 7:30 p.m.
What will happen now? Cochez says “nothing.” He said that the businessman “has several processes not against Varela, but against those who did the fraud.” He did not disclose who he was referring to.
The Press went to the Calidonia Peace Court to request more information about the process, but they refused to give details, arguing that “we were not part of the process.”
