Some 570 packages of alleged illicit substance were seized inside a port terminal in the province of Colón.
The actions took place within the framework of Operation Genesis 2022 and Operation Craibe-Phase4, which takes place in conjunction with the Drug Prosecutor’s Office of Colón and Guna Yala and the National Aeronaval Service (Senan).
A week ago, both authorities caught four people who were caught in two containers at the same port terminal trying to move 1,517 drug packages hidden in bananas and destined for Europe.
Rubén Vigil, head of the second air-naval region, explained in a press conference that the first container came from Ecuador and was passing through Panama, with final destination Saudi Arabia, where 16 packages with 500 drug packages were found.
While the second container was also from Ecuador, but with a final destination in Georgia, it contained 32 packages with more than 1,017 packages of drugs.
So far this year, Senan has carried out 13 operations in which it has seized 10,903 drug packages, 30 people apprehended, seven boats seized, and two weapons. The Atlantic is the area with the most seizures.
