The Mexican authorities confirmed on Friday the first case of coronavirus in the country, which becomes the second detected in Latin America after the one reported in Brazil, in addition to a second case that has tested positive in a first analysis.

Hugo López-Gatell, Undersecretary of Health Prevention and Promotion, said that the positive belongs to a young man who is in Mexico City, hospitalized at the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases (INER). “

“We already have a confirmed case of coronavirus. This would be the index case. The individual is in stable health conditions,” López-Gatell said in the morning conference from the National Palace.
