The Single National Union of Workers in the Construction and Similar Industries (Suntracs) resumed the street closures this Wednesday morning as a pressure measure to demand that the Government comply with the agreements reached at the dialogue table.
Drivers and users of public transport were affected by the closures in the Corredor Sur, Ricardo J. Alfaro, Merca Panamá, among other parts of the country.
At the provincial level, Suntracs also reported closures on the bridge over the Changuinola river with workers from the Festival del Banano project, as well as on the Inter-American highway in David over the Río Chico in Boquerón.
The workers ask for concrete answers on issues related to energy, medicines, among other problems that are being negotiated at the single dialogue table.
They criticized, for example, that the access to basic basket products such as the freezing of the price of fuel at $3.25 is not being complied with, since there are various complaints.
Suntracs reiterated that they will remain on the streets until they see the response of the social gangs. This union is part of the Alianza Pueblo Unidos por la Vida, which is at the dialogue table debating the issues together with the Government with the facilitation of the Catholic Church.
For today, the Veraguenses Association of Educators (AEVE) and the Association of Teachers of Panama (ASOPROF) will also carry out protests and picket lines.
The group is awaiting the resumption of the single dialogue table this Thursday, August 11, 2022 in Penonomé, with the issue of the Social Security Fund and the topic of corruption.
