Panamenista Party update: Varlela brother vocal in discontent

The Panameñistas converted the extraordinary convention of yesterday into a political calisthenics prior to the primary elections, in which its main leaders defended the government’s management and launched attacks on the political opposition.

The president of the party, José Luis Varela , who is also a deputy of the 6-2 circuit, was the first speaker of the event and began by thanking the presence in the political act of deputy José Muñoz , president of the newly created Alianza party.

“Opposition candidates who were presidents, ministers and mayors of the Republic, have the courage to call us incapable, but during their term they did not do the works we are doing,” said Varela.

The brother of the President of the Republic invited the conventional ones to ask who were the ones who signed the free trade agreements that allow importation, and who the creators of the Panamanian Food Safety Authority.

He called the conventional to defend the management of the Government and its works.

Then spoke the deputy of the circuit 8-7, general secretary of the party and precandidate to mayor for the capital city, Adolfo Beby Valderrama , who said: “we have achieved what the PRD could not do in 10 years in the mayor’s office”, referring to period in which Juan Carlos Navarro was at the head of the Municipality of Panama.

The vice president and chancellor Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado also attended as special guest at the convention, who thanked President Juan Carlos Varela for the opportunity he gave her to govern along with him.
