The Pacific task force includes United States, Panamanian, Colombian, Mexican and Ecuadorian vessels. The Caribbean task force includes vessels from the Netherlands, the Dominican Republic, Panama and Colombia, according to the Telemetro report.

Panamax exercises are closely watched because the Canal is not only a Panamanian asset but a global trade artery. Security coordination around the waterway connects defense planning, commerce, logistics and regional diplomacy.

The drills also follow preparatory training involving Panamanian security forces and United States units in jungle operations at San Lorenzo, Colon, reinforcing the broader security-preparation context around Panamax.

Why it matters

The Panama Canal remains one of the world most strategic maritime corridors, making multinational readiness exercises significant for trade and security.

What happens next

Participating forces are expected to continue simultaneous Pacific and Caribbean maneuvers as the exercise advances through its operational phases.
