Panama City Launches AirTags Vigilantes to Track Municipal Works
PANAMA CITY, July 18, 2026 – Panama City’s municipal government has launched AirTags Vigilantes, a digital platform designed to let residents track local works, projects and tax-funded initiatives.
The platform includes an interactive map showing projects linked to investment, self-management and innovation programs. The municipality said it covers infrastructure and public-space initiatives such as parks, bus stops, pedestrian and vehicle bridges, sidewalks, dining facilities, cleaning work, reforestation and community improvements.
According to the announcement, QR codes placed on signs and stickers around the city will send residents to the platform. From there, the public can review project details, follow progress and see information about expected impact.
The tool arrives at a time when residents are demanding more visibility over public spending and project execution. For a capital city with constant pressure around mobility, sidewalks, drainage, public space and neighborhood maintenance, a public map could become useful if it is kept current and easy to understand.

Transparency platforms succeed only when the data is timely, complete and clear. If AirTags Vigilantes is updated consistently, it could give residents a better way to compare promises with execution. If not, it risks becoming another static portal that offers little real oversight.
