MEDUCA Suspends Classes at 172 Schools in No Kribo, Ngabe Bugle Comarca
NO KRIBO, August 17, 2026 – The Ministry of Education said classes would be cancelled on Monday, August 17, at 172 education centres in the No Kribo region of the Ngabe Bugle comarca, Metro Libre reported.
The measure covers schools located in school zones 1 to 18 of the region.
According to MEDUCA, the decision comes while it continues to follow the situation recorded in the comarca.
The ministry said it remains in permanent coordination and communication with the Emergency Operations Centre, Sinaproc, the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama, the Ngabe Bugle comarca government and other competent authorities.
That coordination is intended to follow the situation and take the corresponding measures, the ministry said.
MEDUCA recommended that the education community stay alert to information released through official channels, adding that prevention and collaboration are essential to guarantee safety and wellbeing.
The suspension of classes applies only to Monday, August 17.

Why it matters
Comarca schools serve dispersed communities where rivers and unpaved routes make travel dangerous in heavy rain.
What happens next
