The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mire) reported this Monday, April 22, that it called the Panamanian ambassador in the city of Managua Nicaragua for consultations.
According to Mire, Panama feels “truly affected in its territorial integrity by Nicaragua’s permissive attitude.”
The entity alludes to previous warnings about the permissive attitude of its embassy towards the former president, who continues to use the diplomatic headquarters for political-partisan purposes.
Martinelli has been holed up in said embassy since last February 7 and is waiting for safe passage to leave the country.
“The Republic of Panama demands that the Republic of Nicaragua comply with its international obligations,” highlighted the note sent to the Nicaraguan Foreign Ministry on April 22.
