José Gabriel “Gaby” Carrizo, presidential candidate for the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) and Molinera, with 88,897 votes, recognized the virtual winner of the 2024 general elections, José Raúl Mulino, candidate for the Realizing Goals and Alianza parties.
In his speech from the PRD headquarters, Carrizo thanked God and indicated: “We Panamanians must congratulate ourselves for the democratic journey that we have experienced today, with this electoral event we complete seven continuous elections in full democracy.”
“Everything seems to indicate that Mr. José Raúl Mulino has won the elections and we are going to wait for the Electoral Court to recognize it and when it does we will accept that decision, the president has the responsibility of uniting all Panamanians for the good of the country ”.
And he added: “God’s timing is perfect, He knows why He does things, I am sure He will have His reasons and I accept them. Thanks to my PRD party and Molirena for support and militancy in these three months of the campaign, thanks to my family, the support of my life, thank you Julieta. Thank you to the powerful and brave women.”
I continue to thank his campaign team for their work and his vice president, Camilo Alleyne, his family, as well as his recognition to the Electoral Tribunal and the public force.
Carrizo was accompanied by his co-partisan and his candidate for vice president, Camilo Alleyne.
At 7:50 pm the TER, with 68.6% of the tables counted and a historic electoral participation of 76.8%, indicated that Mulino had obtained 496,683 votes, a difference of approximately 132,000 votes from his closest competitor, Ricardo Lombana, with 381,735 votes.
Another candidate who recognized Mulino’s victory was Zulay Rodríguez, who expressed: “This is an electoral tournament and I said that the votes of the citizens should be respected and the Court should not interfere, and they wanted to judicialize it, to curtail the democracy of Panama. and thank God the election observers came and it didn’t happen. I congratulate Mr. Mulino because I already see that the results are progressing and we are waiting for the results for representatives, mayors and deputies.”
