Anita Moreno Hospital Explosion Injures Three Workers During Technical Tests
PANAMA CITY, August 2, 2026 – Three workers were injured after an explosion was reported in the kitchen area of the Anita Moreno Regional Hospital project in Azuero, according to Panama health authorities.
Telemetro reported that the Ministry of Health, through the Los Santos health region, said the incident occurred while qualified personnel were carrying out technical tests at the hospital, which is still under construction.
The workers, employed by a construction company, suffered burns and were taken to the emergency service at the same hospital site for medical attention. MINSA said all three remained in stable condition, while one worker was due to be evaluated by the surgery service.
The ministry said the situation was controlled immediately by the hospital sprinkler system. Units from the Benemerito Cuerpo de Bomberos de la Republica de Panama went to the site to conduct safety inspections.
