SINAPROC Warns of Rain and Thunderstorms Across Much of Panama
PANAMA CITY, July 20, 2026 – The National Civil Protection System warned that rain and thunderstorms could affect much of Panama on Monday, urging residents to stay alert to changing conditions.
The advisory was listed through 4:15 p.m. and covered Bocas del Toro, Ngabe Bugle, Veraguas, Chiriqui, Los Santos, Herrera, Panama Oeste, Panama, Darien, Embera, Colon, Guna Yala and maritime sectors.
SINAPROC warned of rainfall of varying intensity and electrical activity. The agency advised residents not to cross rivers, streams or flooded areas; to stay away from trees and vulnerable structures during thunderstorms; and to drive carefully where visibility is low or water accumulates.
The alert follows a stretch of unsettled weather in Panama and overlaps with broader concerns about access, flooding risk and storm impacts in western and Caribbean-facing areas.
