Magnitude 3.4 Earthquake Recorded South of Sona in Veraguas
PANAMA, September 6, 2026 — A preliminary magnitude 3.4 earthquake was recorded south of Sona, Veraguas, on Saturday afternoon.

The University of Panama’s Geosciences Institute placed the event about 40 kilometres south of Sona at a depth of 17 kilometres. Residents in Guarumal also reported an electricity interruption, though no direct link between the outage and the earthquake had been established.
