MiAmbiente Approves Guide to Manage Waste From Pig Farms
PANAMA CITY, July 24, 2026 – MiAmbiente approved a good-practices guide for the integrated management of waste from pig farms in watersheds, a measure aimed at reducing pollution of rivers and streams.
The ministry said the guide was made official through Resolution DM-0368-2026 and developed with participation from MiAmbiente, MINSA, MIDA and producer organizations in the pork sector.
The tool is directed especially at small and medium pig producers, giving them technical guidance to comply with environmental and health rules, improve waste management and reduce contamination of water, soil and air.
The story is shareable because it connects food production, water quality and the cost of compliance. Producers often need practical rules that are clear enough to follow without expensive consulting.
