Italian corruption case for Panama delayed

The judge of the preliminary investigations of the Court of Naples delayed again the opening of oral trial – until next May 8 – in the case on the alleged diversion of 20 million dollars in the frustrated construction of four modular prisons in various locations in Panama , by the Italian Svemark consortium.

The defendants in this case are Valter Lavitola , “director” of the corrupt operations between the private sector and the Government of Panama, and Ángelo Capriotti , partner of the Svemark consortium.

The new postponement occurred this time due to a technical error. Capriotti was arrested on April 4 for a parallel crime of money laundering and fraudulent bankruptcy in Rome, but the judicial authorities of the Italian capital did not properly communicate this information to the competent bodies of Naples.
