PROMTUR Panama reported that the goal of the economic impact at the end of 2022 is estimated at $1.5 billion
A total of $752.6 million is the economic benefit that has been generated for the country, from January to June 2022, as a result of the strategy in charge of PROMTUR Panama to market and promote the country internationally as a tourist destination.
According to PROMTUR Panama, this figure exceeds by 8% the goal that was planned for this period, initially estimated at $695.8 million. This result is due, among other factors, to the performance of the new tourism brand “Panamá, Vive por Más” and the high performance of the destination’s marketing and promotion campaigns with important strategic allies.
“The positioning efforts of the country’s new tourism brand, the Panama Stopover Program – together with Copa Airlines – and other airlines such as: Air Europa, Iberia, KLM, Air France, with which we have promotional agreements; in addition to the initiatives of marketing in the company of Expedia, Edreams and Hotelbeds, keep Panama in the minds of thousands of international travelers and have contributed to the progressive reactivation of demand from our main key markets,” said Fernando Fondevila, general director of PROMTUR Panama.
Fondevila explained that of the total of $752.6 million, $117.8 million correspond to the results of the marketing strategy of the tourist brand “Panama, Live for More”; $593.5 million to the performance of strategic alliances, with tour operators, online travel agencies (OTAs) and airlines, for the joint marketing and promotion of the destination in key markets.
