Mentioned this last week,,,,the “cannibalism” of Panama politics. It really is a JOKE.

"JB"

OP ED: by “JB”

Do I “really” have to put this in print? Do I “really” have to lay it all out there to be seen? As if ANYONE does not know this already?

PANAMA IS CORRUPT AS HELL!!!!!!!! PERIOD

From the jungles of Bocas del Toro, to the mansion of Gaby Carrizo, right up to the Presidential Palace steps. A 40 year history of snail trail bribes and archaic rulings. It is truly a real life TRUMAN SHOW like novela. It’s not a slam. It’s just the truth. I think ALL politics are a result of whose election can benefit their lobbies the most. So Panamanians………don’t kill me.

You guys just have not gotten good at it yet. Your still the best option in LATAM. But that’s like saying your the best football player in Yemen. BFD.

What does it say about the galvanism of a country, when the person who the PEOPLE want the most, is now living like JULIAN ASSANGE at the Nicaraguan embassy. LOL.  He can no longer walk the streets of the country he was President of.

In the past elections in the states, the term “Drain the Swamp” was a tr..ending saying.  So it’s EASY go back and literally ARREST EVERY FUCKING PRESIDENT, CABINET MEMBER, JUDGE, HEAD OF A GOVERNMENT AGENCY, NOTARY, down to the BODYGUARDS and toss them in Fucking Jail!!!!!  Cause the moment this country was handed something as important as the CANAL, and you were now dealing with the Big Boys- ( US, CHINA, RUSSIA etc)- plus ( BRAZIL, CUBA, COLOMBIA, NICARAGUA, VENEZUELA) and HUGE expanding of the locks and Infrastructure Projects were needed to keep up with ECONOMIC EXPANSION, it was like someone brought a keg to an AA Meeting. Y’all went “HAM”.  I’m not talking dipping your toe in. I’m saying a FULL BLOWN, RUNNING HEAD START “CANNONBALL” into the PAYOFF POOL. All the while each administration yelling “YEE HAW“.

No judgment here at PNO, that is left for the “Courts”. A small island nation, suddenly having their asses kissed. It can be intoxicating. But the holier than though castigating of old administrations by new is just plain tiring.

So your President is holed up in a tiny Nicaraguan Embassy because he is accused of taking illicit funds.

Did he do it?    YEE HAW

The second judge, Liquidator of Criminal Cases, Baloisa Marquínez, issued an arrest warrant for the five convicted of money laundering in the “New Business” case.

For this case, former president Ricardo Martinelli was sentenced to a sentence of 10 years and 8 months.

In addition to Martinelli, four other people were also convicted and received sentences of between 60 and 96 months in prison.

They were convicted of concealing illicit money coming from State funds at different times, but with the same purpose, which was to ensure the purchase of Editora Panamá América, SA (Epasa)

The other four convicted are Iván Arrocha, Valentín Martínez, Daniel Ochy and Janet Vásquez.

Marquínez, who is in charge of the Second Liquidation Court for Criminal Cases, ruled on this case on July 17, 2023.

The judge’s decision comes one day after the plenary session of the Electoral Court judges disqualified Martinelli as a candidate for the presidency and as a deputy for the 8-4 circuit.

Martinelli is seeking asylum in the Nicaraguan Embassy in Panama waiting for safe passage from the Government to leave the country.

Marquínez also sanctioned Martinelli with the payment of 19.2 million dollars as an accessory penalty for the purchase of Epasa, the conglomerate of three print media that he acquired in December 2010.
