EX-PAT ALERT: Drug raids and violence continue to make Colon a constant danger.

The Superior Prosecutor Specialized in Crimes of Illicit Association, Sofía Carreño, detailed on the morning of this Monday, July 31, that the “Jalisco” operation was designed to dismantle the gang known as “G4” or “Real Gánster For Life (RGFL)”, in the sector of Nuevo México, Sabanitas, province of Colón.

Carreño explained that this operation was carried out jointly between the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation and the agents of the National Police.

He added that the objective was to apprehend the members and leaders of the gang that operates in the area where the 15 raids were carried out.

Another of the objectives of the operation was to locate people who are required by the Specialized Prosecutor for Illegal Association Crimes for their relationship with gangs.

This operation is added to the one carried out last week in the Veracruz sector to dismantle gangs, whose members are required for different crimes.

On July 27, a guarantee judge charged 11 people (eight men and two women) for the crime against collective security, in its modality of gang membership.

This group of people was apprehended on July 25 in the “Viet Cong” operation, which took place in various sectors of Veracruz.

In the hearing of multiple requests, those involved were ordered precautionary measures of house arrest, a periodic report, a ban on meeting with the other defendants, and an impediment to leaving the country.
