So far in the current administration of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, 573.4 tons of drugs have been seized, surpassing the last two administrations.

So far this year, public security forces have seized more than 31.5 tons of drugs throughout the national territory in more than 120 anti-drug operations, achieving the capture of 136 people linked to drug trafficking.

Of the captured people, 104 are Panamanians and 32 foreigners, mostly Colombians.

The Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, reported that Colón continues to be the province with the most drug seizures with more than 9 thousand packages, followed by Los Santos with 7,591 and Panama with 8,827.

“The majority of this drug is seized in operations carried out in ports, mainly in Colón. By preventing this illicit substance from reaching the communities, we prevent this drug from being consumed by our young people,” Pino said.
