Defense team of Martinelli lays out plan to fight the punctures case

The defense of former President Ricardo Martinelli announced, in total, 28 testimonial evidence, 87 documentaries, 4 expert opinions and 132 interview documents for them to be evaluated by the judge of guarantees, Jerónimo Mejía, in the hearing of the process that is followed by the exmandatario the punctures.

Among the testimonial evidence, the defense invoked several officials of the National Security Council (CSN) and the Directorate of Judicial Investigation, which were already interviewed by the prosecution. He will also resort to interviews and statements made by President Juan Carlos Varela; the ex-presidents Martín Torrijos Espino and Ernesto Pérez Balladares; former vice president Samuel Lewis Navarro; Mayor José Blandón Figueroa and his father, José Blandón Castillo; and the deputies José Luis Varela Rodríguez, José Muñoz Molina and Zulay Rodríguez.

The defense informed that it will also resort to an extension of the investigation made by Gustavo Pérez, former head of the CSN, on February 4, 2015, in which he alleged that he had been interrogated under torture and physical and psychological mistreatment.
