SUNTRACS set for arbitration

Labor

The arbritraje raised by President Juan Carlos Varela to the National Union of Construction Workers and the like (Suntracs) and the Panamanian Chamber of Construction (Capac), to end the strike in the construction sector, will be analyzed Tuesday by the workers’ union.

This was reported on Sunday, May 13, the leader of Suntracs, Genaro López , who said that the issue will be addressed during the assembly to be held at 10:00 am, at the Porras Park.

Almost a month of paralysis, the negotiations between both parties continue, but without reaching an agreement.

This Sunday, Suntracs and Capac spoke at the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development, but failed to set the collective agreement that will be in force between 2018 and 2021. Workers insist on a salary increase of 11% per year, while employers maintain on the table a proposal of 1% per year.

In this regard, Lopez said that the proposal of the Capac is not to reach an agreement and if not improve it will be impossible to achieve it.
