IMHPA Issues Heat Watch for Temperatures Up to 36 C Through August 14
PANAMA CITY, August 12, 2026 – IMHPA issued a monitoring notice for elevated temperatures and thermal sensation in Panama, valid through August 14, 2026, Telemetro reported.
The forecast points to maximum temperatures between 31 C and 36 C across much of the country.
Areas listed in the notice include lowlands of Chiriqui, Veraguas, Los Santos, Herrera, Cocle, Panama Oeste, Panama, Darien and the Embera comarca.
High heat can become dangerous when combined with humidity, direct sun exposure, outdoor work, intense physical activity or limited access to shade and water.
IMHPA urged preventive measures such as staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure, using light clothing and reducing intense outdoor activity during the hottest periods.
Special attention is recommended for children, older adults and people who work or exercise outdoors.
