Panama Firefighters Report 300 Emergencies in 72 Hours
PANAMA CITY, August 11, 2026 – Panama firefighters attended 300 emergencies nationwide during the last 72 hours, Metro Libre reported.
The responses involved teams from fire suppression, search and rescue, prehospital emergency care and fire-prevention investigation units.
The most frequent incidents included 44 fallen trees, 25 vehicle accidents, 14 electrical-fault cases, 12 gas leaks and 11 vehicle fires, according to the report. Five structural fires were also registered.
The figures show how emergency services are managing multiple risks at once, from weather-related hazards and road crashes to electrical and fuel-related incidents.
Fire officials urged residents to stay away from unstable trees or branches, avoid electrical cables and poles, and not attempt to handle dangerous situations without trained personnel.
They also renewed advice to keep a family emergency plan, identify evacuation routes and define safe meeting points.
