“For the first time in the history of Panama, everyone is being investigated, we do not have and there has never been bias, or who is investigated or not,” he said.
Kenya Porcell said the Prosecutor’s Office is partially satisfied with the collaboration agreement with the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht .
The head of the Public Ministry considers that the agreement, which includes the payment of a fine of 220 million dollars and the filing of the case in Panama against the company, has worked.
According to Kenya Porcell, the Odebrecht case is still open in several Latin American countries, however in Panama it remains suspended , because an appeal was filed.
In statements to Radio Panama, the attorney rejected that there be selectivity in the Public Ministry (MP) and stressed that what has been in this period from January 2, 2015 to this date is equality.
The Odebrecht scandal came to light in 2016, when the U.S. Department of Justice revealed that the construction company paid about $ 788 million in bribes in several Latin American countries, of which 59 million were in Panama .
