Police Report 82 Traffic Accidents, One Death and 17 Injuries in 24 Hours
PANAMA CITY, August 13, 2026 – Panama National Police reported 82 traffic accidents over the latest 24-hour period, with one person killed and 17 others injured, Metro Libre reported.
According to the police report, the fatal crash occurred in a collision on Jose Agustin Arango Avenue.
Traffic units issued 1,140 tickets for violations of traffic regulations, including 310 for speeding, 44 for inadequate lights and 18 for confirmed drunkenness.
Authorities also removed 56 vehicles by tow truck during the reporting period.
Separately, police said 204 people were apprehended nationwide as part of security operations under Plan Firmeza.
The apprehensions included 109 people wanted by official order, 54 for administrative violations, 26 in flagrante delicto, 12 for micro-trafficking and three for narcotics.
Police also reported 24 search operations, the seizure of firearms, ammunition, cash and suspected drugs, and the recovery of three vehicles.
