Police Report 477 Arrests and 21 Firearms Seized Over Weekend
PANAMA CITY, August 10, 2026 – Panama National Police reported 477 arrests during the last 72 hours under Plan Firmeza, Metro Libre reported.
The weekend operations also included 87 searches and the seizure of 21 firearms, 326 rounds of ammunition and various quantities of alleged illegal substances.
In traffic enforcement, police issued 3,211 tickets and removed 259 vehicles by tow truck.
Metro Libre also reported 252 traffic accidents during the same period, with 57 people injured and five fatal victims in Panamá, Colón, Chiriquí and Darién.
The figures show the scale of weekend enforcement across criminal and traffic areas. They also underline how road safety remains a parallel public-security challenge.
