Flights from Venezuela to Panama suspended
From 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, Panama and Venezuela stopped having air-commercial relations when the 90-day suspension ordered by the Cabinet Council came into force.
Last March, Panama included President Nicolás Maduro and other top political leaders of Venezuela on a list of “high risk” personalities to commit money laundering. It was this measure that triggered the diplomatic distancing and commercial freezing between countries.
Maduro reacted and on April 5, he cut off all commercial and financial activity with a group of Panamanian officials and companies, including Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela and Copa Airlines.
Panama returned with the same currency and suspended flights in response to the discriminatory measures decreed by the Venezuelan Government.
