United States begins a week of tributes by John McCain
“The president will not attend, as far as we understand, at the funeral. It’s a fact , “Rick Davis told reporters in Arizona, at a news conference in which he read a posthumous message from McCain denouncing” tribal rivalries, “which seemed aimed at Trump.
Deceased on Saturday at the age of 81, John McCain had specifically asked that the president not be present at his funeral, according to American media.
The official funeral will be held next Saturday in the imposing cathedral of the federal capital, in the presence of numerous officials, and American and foreign dignitaries.
Ex-presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush , a Democrat and a Republican, are expected to say goodbye to him, as McCain had requested.
The funeral, in family intimacy, will take place on Sunday at the cemetery of the Naval Academy of Annapolis, one hour east of Washington.
