The person in charge of creating the original text of the official prayer of the World Youth Day Panama 2019 was the priest Miguel Ángel Keller, of the Order of San Agustín, who had to comply with specific parameters for this task. The cult to the Virgin Maria and the hope of the young people were two of the elements to consider.

Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta reviewed the document with the help of some people, including the general coordinator of the World Youth Day (WYD), the priest Rómulo Aguilar.

Once it was considered that the content responded to what was desired to communicate, it was sent to the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life, in the Vatican, to receive its contribution as the entity in charge of organizing the WYD.

The prayer was written in a short time. In less than a month it was printed to be disclosed.

Finally, in March of 2017, the text, which was not approved directly by Pope Francis, became official.

Abel Cedeño, general coordinator and accommodation of the WYD, explains that the official prayer has a special structure, in which the Father is first approached before making a request for the Day.

“It is like a thanksgiving, that people offer to God, every time they pray,” details the young man, who is part of the congregation of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help chapel, located in Vista Alegre, in Arraiján.
