Increasing numbers of public debt released

The balance of the public debt rose to $ 23 thousand 673 million in the first quarter of 2018, reported the Public Financing Directorate .

The figure represents an increase of one thousand 710 million dollars compared to the balance one year earlier.

In March 2018, the Government received disbursements for $ 443.8 million, among which the interim credit line with the National Bank of Panama , notes and Treasury bills and funds from loans granted to Panama by multilateral organizations stand out.

In the debt service, Panama made capital payments to multilaterals for $ 30.9 million and to commercial banks for $ 13.5 million. $ 160.6 million in interest was allocated to various global bonds.

The bonds are the most used instruments to contract debt. The balance as of March 31 in these securities is $ 12,499.4 million; followed by loans with multilateral banks, with $ 5 thousand 189.9 million; Treasury bonds, with $ 2 thousand 514.5 million; and Treasury notes, with $ 2 thousand 136 million.
