Comptroller asks for reports to begin audit for fraud

Crime

The comptroller of the Republic, Federico Humbert , said on Thursday, April 19 that he sent a letter to the director of the Social Security Fund (CSS) , Alfredo Martiz , to deliver “as soon as possible” the internal audits that revealed the possible evasion of $ 300 million in employers’ contributions by employers. In this way, said Humbert, they will proceed to carry out their respective audits and if they confirm what Martiz denounced, they will be forwarded to the  Public Prosecutor’s Office for investigation.

The CSS denounced that since 2012, when the Income and Benefits System (SIPE) started to work , which allowed employers to pay the employer’s contribution electronically, an evasion scheme worked.

Martíz indicated that, once they noticed the situation, they have applied greater security controls, which evidently has caused discomfort due to the delay in the time of the procedures.
