Colon leadership rejected

Politics

The Minister of the Presidency, Álvaro Alemán, lamented that leaders of the province of Colón insist on a new strike call, despite the fact that there is a multi-thematic dialogue table headed by state ministers and directors of different public entities to find solutions to different problems that this province faces.

Alemán, on behalf of the government, indicated that despite the fact that last March 19 the table was established that seeks, through a consensus, to avoid confrontations, the leadership has opted to “condition” them to the issuance of a resolution or executive decree.

THE FACTS

Fight Committee for the Salvation of Columbus

On March 13 and 14, the leadership carried out a strike and a demonstration in the city of Colón.

After the peaceful demonstration, strangers to the event looted several shops.

This table was mediated by the Catholic Church through the Bishop of Colon and Guna Yala, Monsignor Manuel Ochogavía

Alemán reiterated the Executive’s willingness to maintain dialogue so as not to disturb public order.

This dialogue seeks to find solutions to the problems that afflict the colonized population in matters of health, education, employment and the effects of the Urban Renovation project.

“We can not acquire commitments of that kind beyond what is our responsibility in our management,” said the minister, noting that the commitment of the current administration is to work until the last day of management with responsibility.

“This is a government of dialogue, willing to seek consensus solutions, but can not be allowed to pressures through majorities.” He expressed German.
