Noem will witness a repatriation flight and visit the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Escanaba.
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem will meet with Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino on Tuesday, June 24, to discuss key security issues.
Noem, who is beginning a tour of Central America in Panama, will also meet with the Minister of Security, Frank Ábrego, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier Martínez-Acha.
In addition to Panama starting June 25, the official will also visit Costa Rica, Honduras, and Guatemala.
In Panama, the official, along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, will attend a repatriation flight at Albrook Airport.
According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security, Noem will also visit the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Escanaba.
While in Costa Rica, he is scheduled to meet with President Rodrigo Chaves and visit the Los Lagos detention center and speak with representatives of the joint border security program.
In Honduras, his agenda includes a meeting with President Xiomara Castro and Foreign Minister Javier Efraín Bú Soto.
He will also inspect the repatriation program operations at the Soto Cano Air Base.
And in Guatemala, this Thursday, June 26, he will meet with President Bernardo Arévalo and the Minister of the Interior, Francisco Jiménez.
Noem will review the Department of Homeland Security’s joint programs at La Aurora International Airport.
On Tuesday, June 17, Noem was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Washington, DC, suffering from an allergic reaction.
When she was transferred, she was found to be “awake and recovering.”
According to analysts, the 53-year-old Republican politician has become a key player in President Donald Trump’s administration over the past five months.
Noem, who previously served as governor of South Dakota, is now one of the most staunch defenders of anti-immigration policies.
Furthermore, his first trip abroad was last March to the Terrorism Confinement Center, the mega-prison built by Nayib Bukele where more than 200 Venezuelans deported by the United States are being held.
