Panama Receives Extradited Suspect Known as El Abogado From Spain
PANAMA CITY, July 31, 2026 – Jean Carlos Valencia Escobar, known by authorities as El Abogado, was extradited from Spain to Panama through an Interpol red notice, according to TVN Noticias.
The report identified Valencia Escobar as an alleged leader of the BGD ISIS gang based in Santa Eduviges. Panamanian authorities required him for an alleged offense against collective security in the form of gang activity within Operacion Antipandillas, also identified as Combate.
TVN reported that the red notice used in the case was A-7858/5-2026. His transfer from Spain follows the arrest in Panama of another person authorities identified as one of the structure main leaders.
Investigators allege that senior figures in the organization traveled between Panama and Europe to coordinate narcotics operations with international criminal groups. Authorities also described container contamination inside ports and in cargo consolidation areas as part of the alleged trafficking method.
The extradition gives prosecutors and police a chance to move the case forward inside Panama jurisdiction. It also highlights the international reach of criminal investigations tied to ports, cargo routes and Europe-bound trafficking.
