Mass Transit suicide still being unwound

Prosecutor Uris Isaías Vargas Mendoza declared on the morning of Monday, June 9, that an investigation has begun into the death of a man on Line 1 of the Panama Metro .

Vargas explained that the man is 69 years old and a Mexican citizen.

Earlier, the Panama Metro reported in a statement that a passenger had committed suicide on Line 1.

“ We are maintaining partial service between the Santo Tomás and Villa Zaíta stations. The Lotería, 5 de Mayo, and Albrook stations are temporarily out of service ,” the agency wrote in X.

Following the incident, security protocols were immediately activated , coordinating with our ambulance service, the police, and the prosecutor’s office.

“ Service remains suspended between the Albrook and Lotería stations while the relevant authorities conduct investigations into this unfortunate incident .”
