1.5 million flu vaccines arrive in the country today

A total of 1.5 million tetravalent vaccines against influenza will arrive in the country today, confirmed the Minister of Health, Miguel Mayo.

The doses that the State acquired this year from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) have a cost of $ 5.60 per unit, representing an investment of $ 8.4 million for the State.

According to Itzel de Hewitt, head of the Immunization Program of the Ministry of Health (MINSA), these tetravalent vaccines cover two types of influenza: A and B.

According to Hewitt, distributions will be made in all the health regions of the country starting Wednesday. On Thursday will be vaccinating in all health centers and national hospitals, whether the Minsa or the Social Security Fund.

The doses will be applied for free and although children, pregnant women, patients with chronic diseases and adults over 60 years of age will have priority, anyone can be vaccinated, as long as they are present at the health facilities.
