OP ED: Maybe it’s just me, but how about making the fine more than a fancy dinner and bottle of wine. I mean teak wood floors are like $14 per sq ft. Just a thought. “JB”

The Ministry of Environment (Miambiente) confirmed on Wednesday the confiscation of a shipment of teak wood, for not having the regulatory marquilla and being out of schedule for its transfer.

Fernando Domínguez, head of the Forestry Department of Miambiente in Los Santos, explained that the incident occurred in the Macaracas district, when a vehicle with about 16 teak wood touches was stopped.

A direct penalty of $ 600 was applied to the driver of the vehicle and the car with the wood was retained.

The economic penalty corresponds to $ 500 for moving wood without the marquilla and $ 100 for transporting it after hours.
