At least the structures of nine houses were affected in Parita by heavy rains that fell in the province of Herrera between this Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 May.

The downpours also caused the partial collapse of a tree in the city of Chitré, in the province of Herrera, which fell on a residence.

Valentín García, provincial director of the National System of Civil Protection (Sinaproc) of Herrera, confirmed that it was raining heavily in the highlands of the province, as in the lowlands.

García explained that in Parita there were damages because the water was introduced inside the residences, product of the construction of the new streets.

There was a lot of caliche and waste because for days the works are paralyzed, due to the strike of the Single Union of Construction Workers and the like, Garcia said.
