The former president also denied any connection to the arrest of President José Raúl Mulino.

Former President Juan Carlos Varela stated yesterday that he has held talks with former President Ricardo Martinelli recently.

During the internal elections of the Panameñista Party , he told Radio Panamá that his latest interactions with Martinelli have taken place in a “calmer” atmosphere , mainly focused on health issues .

“There is a sense of calm, in specific health issues, but there is a somewhat calmer atmosphere than the tension that existed before ,” he said.

When asked what he wished for Martinelli, he replied: “Health and that he can be with his family, right? That’s the most important thing . ”        OP ED:  Oh and…..   “So how is the Coke and Chinese Whores in Beijing you rat MFer?”

The former president also addressed allegations that, over the years, have linked him to the arrest of current President José Raúl Mulino when he was president, or to alleged actions intended to politically harm him . He was categorical: “I was never involved . ”

To support his claim, Varela explained that the case, which for years was associated with his alleged responsibility, was resolved during his administration through a negotiation with the Italian authorities.

“I resolved that case administratively. I have the photo with the Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi, when we reached an agreement on a $100 million loan that we used in the Schengen area, and the reduction of one helicopter ,” he stated.

According to Varela, the process ended as an administrative matter, not a judicial one. “He returned to the country, and the case was resolved administratively. There was dialogue, there was negotiation with the company. I’m actually at peace with that.”

Although Varela did not elaborate further, he insisted that the case has no relation whatsoever to Mulino’s legal situation and that his role was limited to administratively resolving legal processes inherited from previous administrations .
