President José Raúl Mulino declared on the afternoon of Sunday, June 22, that he has no doubt that there is political influence in the crisis in Bocas del Toro.

In a brief comment to the media, Mulino also stated that this influence has been present in the province for some time, where acts of vandalism have been reported since the night of June 19.

In addition, authorities have reported that among the hooded individuals and vandals were members of various gangs.

Mulino’s statements were made during his participation this Sunday in the “10th Pet Sterilization Day,” organized by the Office of the First Lady, which took place at the Arturo Brown Gymnasium, in Ciudad Radial, Juan Díaz.

The National Police reported on Sunday afternoon on the progress of Operation Omega, which includes the arrest of several alleged gang members.

According to the latest report, 192 people have been arrested since the start of the operation, 90 of whom are suspected gang members captured in Changuinola.

According to the agency, the rest were arrested in the districts of Almirante and Chiriquí Grande.

Mulino also said he preferred that Security Minister Frank Ábrego provide daily updates on the situation in the province.
