The Ministry of Environment of Panama reported that the boundaries of the Darién National Park were officially updated. The measure was adopted under the administration of President José Raúl Mulino and the management of the Minister of the Environment, Juan Carlos Navarro, culminating a public consultation process that lasted for more than a decade.

According to the entity, the update of the park boundaries was carried out in accordance with current environmental regulations and included:

Spaces for dialogue with communities and local authorities

The Ministry emphasized that the process ensured proper legal support and broad territorial participation, thus consolidating the legitimacy of the measure.

The decree reaffirms Darién National Park as a protected area of ​​the Republic of Panama and ratifies its membership in the National System of Protected Areas (SINAP), maintaining its management category as a National Park.

With this update, the Government seeks to strengthen the protection of one of the most important ecosystems in the country and the Mesoamerican region, recognized for its high biodiversity and its strategic value in environmental conservation.

Darien National Park is considered one of the most important natural reserves in Panama, key to the preservation of species and environmental regulation in the region.

The environmental agency indicated that it will continue coordinating actions with the communities linked to the park and its buffer zone, with the aim of ensuring permanent support in protection and conservation efforts.

The Ministry reiterated that the conservation of Darién National Park is a shared responsibility that involves the authorities and the general public.
