Classes Remain Suspended at 193 Schools as Flood Risk Continues
PANAMA, August 20, 2026 — MEDUCA kept 21 Bocas del Toro schools and 172 Nabribo-region schools closed on Thursday because of rain and unsafe travel.
The closures cover 21 campuses in Bocas del Toro and 172 centres across school zones 1 through 18 in the Ngabe-Bugle comarca. Rising rivers, saturated soil, high tides and wind remain hazards, and authorities urged residents not to cross swollen waterways.
